The final book in the Lords of Sussex series
A sweet spicy romance. Lady Venetia’s Vow offers a fast-paced plot and passionate love. The hero, the gorgeous Captain Thomas Reece, the Marquess of Ghaunt becomes Venetia’s protector, but he would rather be her lover. Venetia unaware of his rising passion for her, thinks only of finding her lost fiancé. Two weeks before her wedding, Lady Venetia Lovegrove learns her fiancé Lord Horatio Winton is presumed dead, killed in action. Shocked, she learns that not only was he an agent in His Majesty’s Secret Service, but his body is missing. Clinging onto the hope he is still alive, she vows to find him, even if it means traveling through war-torn Europe. Her future father-in-law, her guardian in Horatio’s absence, expressly forbids such a foolish venture. Desperate, she plans to steal away at night, with her devoted maid and two loyal footmen. Enter the gallant Captain Tom Reece, the Marquess of Ghaunt, who immediately smitten with the beautiful young woman wins her confidence. He tries to dissuade her from such a perilous mission; realizing she is determined to find her lost love, he insists on escorting her. Concealing his plans to seduce her, together they embark upon a journey that threatens not only their freedom, but their very lives.
Review:
4/5
I have read others in this series and loved them. They are fast paced and keep you intrigued. Lady Venetia is to be married to Horatio. Weeks before her wedding he told her he had to leave on a secret mission. Then a few weeks before he is supposed to be home they receive a letter that he has been killed and his body is gone. Lady Venetia does not believe that this is true. Where is the body? So she heads out with her protector Captain Thomas to find her beloved. What she finds is heartbreak and danger.
It was a great ending to a great series. I am so glad that it ended how it did. I recommend this seres for anyone who loves historical romance!
About the author:
My main loves are writing, painting and singing. I began work as a PA but to my joy was spotted by an agent in London and had an exciting career as a singer, meeting and singing with some wonderful people. Singing meant a lot of travelling both in the UK and abroad. At one time, I toured Germany and Turkey singing for the American troops, which was a fantastic experience. But then, my husband and I wanted a family, so I said good-bye to the singing career, although I did the occasional gig. Having children is such a precious time, and I would say to anyone, treasure it, it goes so quickly and before you know it, you’re waving them off to Uni or pursuing their own dreams and their own homes. I have always had a deep interest in psychology for various reasons, and especially the area of neurosis arising from abuse. Later, I was to study how we could use our body, mind and spirit to relieve pain and overcome some life-threatening diseases. One important thing here is, I always told my patients to continue with medical treatment along with the complementary and spiritual methods, for I believe medical research and medication is also a gift from God, Spirit or the Universe, as each of us wishes to name it. I have loved writing from a child and during the years of study, research and treating some wonderful people, whom I called my friends, I would write at night, mainly short stories, and reams of poetry. I wanted to learn how to write self-help books for my clients, so I took creative writing courses at university, which led to writing a novel. So self-help novels turned to fiction but even so, I hope the novels help the reader through their own challenges, as the characters experience love, loss, passion, jealousy, illness, joy and conflict, even the threat of death.
Thank you so much for a wonderful review. I missed the characters so much when I wrote that last line. - Katy Walters
