Release Day Blitz for Soul!

Title: Soul
Series: Trinity Trilogy #3
Author: Audrey Carlan
 Release Date: March 30, 2015

Synopsis

I was a dead woman.

I’d finally had a glimpse of true love, admiration, and the kind of devotion only your soulmate, your other half, could provide…until it was physically ripped away.

Taken.

My stalker had me, and there was little hope I’d be found. I knew Chase would use all his money and resources to search the ends of the Earth for me, but I knew the monster I was dealing with. Years of looking into the eyes of pure evil gave me the unique experience to know that my situation was dire. If Chase didn’t find me soon, I’d be gone forever.

***

In the third and final novel in the erotic suspense, Trinity Trilogy, SOUL connects with the reader by providing the story through the eyes of Gillian, Chase, and the man that wants to own her soul but can’t for she’s already given it to another.

Everyone is on the hunt to save Gillian from the arms of a killer. This book can be considered dark, erotic, and thrilling. As in Body (Trinity Trilogy Book 1) the issue of domestic violence plays heavily in the storyline, and Gillian experiences many disturbing flashbacks of the past alongside tragedy the stalker brings to the present. There is also a lot of love, devotion, and friendship. As with all my books, the characters will ultimately have their happily ever after.

Warning: This book is designed for audiences 18+ due to language, graphic sexual content, and themes that some may find disturbing. SOUL is book 3 of a three-part trilogy. Body (Trinity Trilogy - Book 1) and Mind (Trinity Trilogy - Book 2) must be read prior to reading SOUL.

Derek The Dragon and Princess Dayna

Do you or your kids have trouble with people who are different?

Do your kids have trouble making friends?

This is a terrific story aimed at kids 0-5, and yet, it is fun for the whole family to read and enjoy. Derek the Dragon, the dormouse, Devin and Princess Dayna all learn a lot about friendship. The book deals with misunderstandings and stereotypes, but in a way that is very palatable for little children to understand. The villagers are worried about a dragon flying around their village. They send their princess off to deal with the situation. The story is told in rhyming verse and featuring dynamic illustrations. It is a story for the whole family to enjoy.

My Review
5/5
Derek and Devin are flying around enjoying their day. The towns people are runny around scared of Derek up in the sky. They go to the Princess to help them make the dragon go away. The Princess calls to the dragon to tell him to stop scaring people, when Devin stands up for Derek.
This story taught a great lesson to my boys. Always stand up for yourself and others. Also how you shouldn't judge. Everyone was scared of the dragon because he was big. It helped us start talk about judging others and standing up for yourself and others.

Derek The Dragon And The Missing Socks

Do your kids forget to clean up their rooms?

Have they ever asked you to find things for them?

This story is pure family entertainment. It is great for kids 2-82 but it is aimed at the 0-5 age group. The book covers a very important life skill, cleaning. Derek the dragon does not like to clean, but he learns that he needs to get his house clean if he is ever going to find his lucky socks. Devin the dormouse comes to help his friend and shows him the way to get his house clean. The friends clean the cave and find the lucky socks. The story is brought to life through vivid illustrations and is told in rhyming verse.

My Review
5/5
Dereks cave is a mess. He cannot find his other sock and he is going to be late. Devin shows up and tells Derek that they need to clean if they want to find things. Derek s not happy about that. He does not like to clean.
This is the perfect book. My kids do not like to clean. They just want to find everything and never put anything away. They liked that Derek did not like cleaning either. They laughed and talked about how they were alike and how after Derek cleaned he found his sock.
Its always fun when both kids and parents enjoy books together.

Meet The Author

Leela Hope is a writer with over 22 years of experience in writing endearing children's fiction. Her lively characters have entranced and captivated her audience, and she has taken great joy in writing the three series of books, each beautifully illustrated with love and care. Her stories concentrate on the adventures of floppy eared bunnies and wide-eyed children learning lessons in life, before returning home wiser and eager for sleep. leela hope writes her stories to entertain the very young, but also to educate. Her vision is always of a parent sitting on a child's bed, reciting the stories each night, while the young one drifts off to sleep, lulled into a dream world full of fun and adventure.

From her very earliest years of childhood, Leela made up stories in her head, telling them to her younger brother and sister. The stories flowed easily from her mind, and it wasn't long before she realized she had a gift for writing. By the age of 14, she had already written a small book of short stories for her own entertainment, and by the age of 22, she had published her first full-fledged children's fiction in several magazines. Leela hope was destined to be an author and she knew exactly what genre of fiction she wanted to dedicate her life too.

Born in San Diego, California, and still residing in the area, Leela studied English Literature at Berkeley, earning a degree in 1989. Her writing covers a span of several genres, but she always returns to her first love, children's fiction. She enjoys scuba diving and visiting wildlife parks, seeking new inspiration for cuddly characters for her stories. leela hope lives in an urban area of San Diego and is presently at work on a new book.

Loved this book! STUPIDPARTY Math V. Myth book tour. Plus my review!

About the Book:

Title: Stupidparty Math V. Myth: Unmasking the Destructive Forces Eroding American Democracy
Author: Patrick Andendall
Publisher: Fact Over Fiction Publishing LTD.
Pages: 408
Genre: Politics
Format: Paperback/Kindle

Stupidparty Math v. Myth: Unmasking the Destructive Forces Eroding American Democracy relies on publicly available facts, resources and tools to deconstruct and relentlessly drill down on the numerous misconceptions held by too many Republicans. Substantiated by more than 1,500 hyperlinks to authoritative resources, readers will find:
Stupidparty positions defrocked on: the "Moochers", the economy, climate change, environmental stewardship, racism, religion, "Freedoms", guns, and ignorance-based humor.
The fallacy of Fox News facts exposed, documented, and explained.

Also included are 1,055 full color images and 121 graphs and charts.

Once thoughtful, discerning Americans understand the destructive forces manipulating their views, they will begin to call for a stop to the stupidity that has invaded our politics and poisoned our political process. The eradication of Stupid from the Stupidparty is the first step.

This book does not set out to destroy the Republican Party. The U.S. needs at least two parties. But by exposing the abundance of Myth with the relentless use of Math and facts, the problems and then the solutions become self-evident.

My Review
5/5
SO I am not someone who normally reads any type of political book. But this one was really good. I did not feel like I was reading a book bashing republicans. Everything was backed up with research. So many of the points that were made really struck me. I felt that I needed to take more time and invest in knowledge of who we vote for.
Many of the points that he makes are things that you never realized. How far many of these "republicans" have strayed from doing what is actually best for the people. I found myself agreeing being excited about what I can do with the knowledge and who I could recommend this book to. Such an awesome book. It definitely needs to be read, even if politics are not something you find and interest in.

About the Author

Patrick Andendall has always had an interest in politics and, being multicultural, he views issues from a more international perspective. In 2004, five days before the election, he flew to Cleveland and pitched in to help with the political process. What he discovered was the dissolution of the American Dream, which he writes about in his book, Stupidparty.

Educated at English boarding schools from the age of seven, Andendall went on to graduate from Lancing College. He started by sometimes working three jobs at once, trainee Underwriter/claim broker at Lloyd's of London, his own one man cleaning Company (cleaning the very offices of a Reinsurance Company he would transact business at) plus doing seasonal work on various farms.

Having made some windfall profits by borrowing money in order to be a "Stag" to take advantage of opportunities created by Margaret Thatcher's de nationalization policies of the mid 1980's, Andendall evolved into an entrepreneur with a core specialty in Reinsurance in London and New York where he looks for patterns in numbers. Self-employed in a field not normally conducive to self-employment, he is able remain in control, juggle different jobs, travel and pursue his various interests.

Ending up in New York via romance in the African bush, Andendall now lives on Long Island with his wife, two children and two dogs.

excerpt
From Darkness to Light - A Soldier’s Story Phil Davidson When I landed in Saigon in 1972 I thought knew about the dangers that were ahead. After all, I knew it was a desperate place. Fighting and dying had been going on long before I arrived there. As an Infantry officer, a Captain, I had been well trained. I could set ambushes, call in air strikes and shoot my way out of a gun-fight with the best of them. I had also hardened myself against my subordinates, and intellectualized that taking casualties was for the most part unavoidable. I also accepted that I might be killed or wounded, though I had made my mind up that I would never be captured. That was what my hand gun was for. But what I had not foreseen nor planned for was the ‘darkness.’ I had just snuck into my hideout from a night ambush mission when I received a secure radio call from my Six from his lair near the Mekong to be ready to be extracted in two hours. Two hours. As the chopper lifted off leaving my little team waiving to me I expected to be back after receiving another one of ‘those’ missions. Instead I was put on a plane and sent home. Arriving in America a couple of days later I was a man from space. Seventy-two hours earlier I had been in a fire -fight. Now I was picking ghostly insects from my meal at home. Two weeks later I was a ski instructor for the Northern Warfare School in Alaska. It was there during those cold clear nights that I began experiencing the ‘dreams.’ They came at night, like an ambush team, while I was weak and vulnerable, and while my ego was resting. Images of the jungle, the people I knew, and the things I had done. And after awhile, I began to have waking dreams. Yes, the ‘Thousand Yard Stare.’ While you were driving, while you were talking, while you were eating, while... I fought the dreams with things I don’t want to write about. I left the Army. But the dreams never left. They accompanied me while I was driving in my patrol car after I had become a police officer. They took the place of script as I studied my law books. When I would walk down the street a car backfiring or some loud noise would invoke an embarrassing response from me wherever I was and with whomever I was with at the time. I trusted no one and everyone and everything was out to get me. I even joined the National Guard to be able to act out my subconscious desires. I was at a point that I was at the end of myself. I couldn’t form personal relationships and felt alienated from everyone and the society I was in. The darkness had taken me. I was alone and suicidal. I had no family left to fall back on and the institutions I had made myself apart of were not set up for understanding the human condition of their employees. As a small boy I had been a member of a church, a small group that meet in the basement of a larger house. One of the deacons was leaving, a plain man with a friendly smile and solid voice, he gave the children, there were three of us, Bibles as parting gifts. That was when I was twelve. I still had the Bible. My grandmother had kept it for me and when I left home after joining the police force she handed it to me. She didn’t say anything but she knew. One night for some reason, to this day I cannot tell you why, I thumbed through it. My eye was caught by the story of David. I read it. And in my mind his story was similar to mine. Over the days I formed a bond with David. If God loved a man like David, a man that he said was of his own heart, then there was a chance for me. After awhile, when the darkness came, David drew his sword of light and cut it away. David had put himself to the task of being God’s servant. He didn’t run from evil, he faced it. I decided to find out what the darkness was. I read everything I could about what I was experiencing. And I found out it had a name-delayed stress syndrome. I took a real hard look at myself in the light of day and I realized that I had been saved from death and disaster so many times by God. If God wanted me to survive then my life was worth something. The darkness would not win the battle for my soul. Each time I felt myself losing control I remembered that I was not alone. Like David, I could use the armor of God to defeat what threatened me. That is a point of healing for anyone suffering from PTSD. Your life has value to God and he will help you to fight your darkness. God is a warrior and he knows how to win battles. He will help you to cope. Once I focused my life away from my problems I began to see that many of my fellow police officers were showing symptoms of the darkness. I was now an instructor at the Police Academy and had recently received Master’s Degree in clinical psychology. I began teaching officers how to cope the darkness, now labeled, post traumatic stress disorder. Thus began my journey of teaching others to defeat this malady. In 1982 I was appointed to President Reagan’s Vietnam Veterans advisory committee, where I centered on PTSD. In the years to come I knew that I wanted to write about PTSD and what it had done to so many soldiers. But I also wanted to write about what had happened to me not my experiences but my being saved from the darkness by what I know was God’s grace. Some would call it redemption. But how would I do this? I wrote Dreamer. Dreamer is novel about redemption, but not redemption in the classical sense that has been written about many times. How would God redeem warriors? Warriors who had been sentenced to live in the darkness for questionable conduct. God would come to them as a warrior. I knew that this concept might be foreign and perhaps offensive to many religious readers. But I felt it was a story that I had to tell. My central character is a man named David. I patterned him from the Bible’s David. And like King David, Dreamer’s David was a failed human being. David and his team were called upon to carry out Phoenix missions in Vietnam and all had the left the service in disgrace. Years later God comes to them and brings them together to accomplish an impossible task that will redeem them and let them stand in the light of men once more. I used as a background for the novel’s action, the Falklands War. I’m not sure if there has been any fiction written about the Falklands War. Dreamer is gritty. There is rough language, scenes of violence, but also tales of bravery and sacrifice. I wanted to take the Christian and other religious readers to a real world, a world where evil lives and to show how it can be defeated. Christ never flinched from entering places of evil men and danger. I hoped the Christian reader would find Dreamer a little dangerous but worth saving because Dreamer’s David’s dreams were not a product of PTSD but rather messages from God. Those messages brought him from darkness to light. God’s power will lead you into the light. _______________ Phil Davidson is a practicing attorney in Nashville, TN and author of the book Dreamer. Voices Inside My Head

Am I Crazy? No, You’re a Writer

Read any author interview about characterization. At some point, they are bound to admit that the characters direct them in their writing.

In trying not to sound schizophrenic, the author will try to explain, “I may want them to do this, but they’ll tell me they want to do that. … They’re real to me. … My characters come alive.”

Fictional characters dictating a plot does sound crazy to someone who’s not a writer.

Do you mean you have fictional people telling you what to write?

Yes, they should. If an author comes to a crossroads in his plot where the character can go left or right, and he doesn’t tell the writer which way to go, then he isn’t fully developed, at which point that author has a problem with his character.

It may be easier to understand if I explain the actual process.

Let’s say you’re writing a book where you have a character that’s a spunky detective like homicide detective Jane Rizzoli in Rizzoli and Isle. She’s tough. She prefers beer to wine. She carries a big gun and knows how to shoot it.

In your plot, the killer abducts Jane, ties her up with duct tape, and leaves her trapped on a pair of railroad tracks with the train coming.

Now, you, as the writer, are planning for your book to end with your main protagonist, Dudley DoRight saving Jane from the railroad tracks and the crazed killer. Dudley has to save Jane.

Unfortunately, Jane is going to have issues with that storyline.

She’s a strong character. She doesn’t want to sit there on the railroad tracks boo-hoo’ing until Dudley gets there to rescue her. That won’t fit with her character. Not only does playing the helpless damsel not fit with her personality; it also doesn’t fit with her profession.

A woman doesn’t get promoted to homicide detective by crying “Save me! Save me!” when she gets into trouble.

What are you, dear writer, going to do?

Your protagonist is Dudley DoRight. He’s the star of your book. If you leave Jane on the railroad tracks doing nothing to save herself, then the reader is going to say, “What a wimp! How did she ever become a cop?”

This is where being a writer is fun.

While characters may take a different path in the storyline, the writer can throw up road blocks sending them in another direction until they end up where he wants them to be.

For example, you can have Jane remain unconscious on the railroad tracks until Dudley arrives, though it would more suspenseful with her screaming for her life while the train is coming.

You can have her and the killer fighting on the tracks with the train speeding towards them until Dudley arrives in the nick of time to save Jane and the killer is smashed like a fly on a car windshield; or, you can let Jane get hit by the train. (I hate killing main likeable characters in the end.)

Or, you replace Jane’s character with one who will sit there crying “Save me! Save me!”—like Penelope Peril.

This will mean a complete rewrite. However, if you want your storyline to go one way and the character won’t fit with it, it may be the way you’ll have to go. Forcing a character to behave in manners contrary to her personality doesn’t work. Readers will scratch their heads and ask, “Why’d she do that?”

In my latest Mac Faraday Mystery, Three Days to Forever, police chief David O’Callaghan just about slapped me alongside the head when I tried to make him the “helpless victim in need of rescuing” after being abducted by home-grown terrorist.

As I illustrated in my example, Mac Faraday, the star protagonist in this series, had to be the man of the hour when it came to the climax in this mystery-suspense-thriller. But, a major in the Marine reserves with special ops training and a police chief, David would have none of it. There was no way he was going to sit around calling for help like a little girl.

In order to keep my characters happy, I had to adjust the plotline in order to make both Mac Faraday and David O’Callaghan ring true to my readers.

Sigh.

Sometimes, book characters can be as demanding as real-life movie stars.

Terro Never Sleeps (updated)

TitleTerror Never Sleeps
Book 2: Jack Gunn Thriller Series
Author: Richard Blomberg
Publisher: Beaver's Pond Press
Publication Date: February 15, 2015
Pages: 337
ISBN: 978-1592988952
Genre: Military Thriller / Suspense
Format: Paperback, eBook (.mobi / Kindle), PDF

Navy SEAL Jack Gunn’s life is turned upside down when terrorists kidnap his family and disappear without a trace. While Jack and his team search frantically for clues in Virginia, half-way around the world, his wife, Nina struggles to survive the terrorist’s daily persecutions as his hostage.
Terror Never Sleeps is an action-packed tale of Nina’s transformation into a warrior who is fighting for her life, and Jack’s relentless pursuit of the terrorists from Mali to Diego Garcia to Pakistan. A military coup, propaganda, dirty bombs, and the launch of Pakistan’s nuclear arsenal with one target—Israel—is all part of the terrorist’s master plan, who are hellbent on blowing the world back to the eighth century. The non-stop action keeps the reader constantly off balance with the bizarre and unexpected.

My Review
4/5
Jack Gunn is a navy seal and in charge of CTF. While overseas dealing with some horrible people, his wife and son is kidnapped. They are trying to get back at Jack for declaring a blood feud. But this is just a front for what is really going on. Now Jack needs to save his wife and figure out what is going on before it is to late.
It was a good story. The mystery was really good. It was nice that these soldiers were written to show they have feelings. Many times the guys are written to be hard and nothing affects them. I like that it went back and forth between Nina and Jack. I wish there was more from Nina.
Alot of the story though felt like there was just to much. Some of the background information was not needed and took away from the main story. Also the military part with the Pakistanians did not really even show up until over halfway through the book.
Besides that I liked it.

Andra Watkins needed a wingman to help her become the first living person to walk the historic 444-mile Natchez Trace as the pioneers did. She planned to walk fifteen miles a day. For thirty-four days.

After striking out with everyone in her life, she was left with her disinterested eighty-year-old father. And his gas. The sleep apnea machine and self-scratching. Sharing a bathroom with a man whose gut obliterated his aim.

As Watkins trudged America’s forgotten highway, she lost herself in despair and pain. Nothing happened according to plan, and her tenuous connection to her father started to unravel. Through arguments and laughter, tears and fried chicken, they fought to rebuild their relationship before it was too late. In Not Without My Father: One Woman’s 444-Mile Walk of the Natchez Trace, Watkins invites readers to join her dysfunctional family adventure in a humorous and heartbreaking memoir that asks if one can really turn I wish I had into I’m glad I did.

About the Author

Andra Watkins lives in Charleston, South Carolina. A non-practicing CPA, she has a degree in accounting from Francis Marion University. She’s still mad at her mother for refusing to let her major in musical theater, because her mom was convinced she’d end up starring in porn films. Her acclaimed debut novel To Live Forever: An Afterlife Journey of Meriwether Lewis was published by Word Hermit Press in 2014.

Her latest book is the memoir, Not Without My Father: One Woman’s 444 Mile Walk of the Natchez Trace.

My Review
4/5
This book is the second in a series. You need to read the first book and be ok with cliffhangers.
Besides that it is a really good book.
An AI lost control of his ship because someone has hacked it. So the ship woke up Colonel Tanis. She has no idea what is going on and the AI can not be reached to help. So she has to fix the ship and make her way to the new colony alone.
There is Mystery, suspense and so much awesomeness. I really enjoyed the book. I read it all in one night and now I just need to wait for the next one!
