‘No good deed ever goes unpunished, Mellea…’
(BOUND, The Guardians #1)
Mellea Wendorn hasn’t exactly had a normal life. Misfortune seems to follow her, and her family, wherever she goes.
However, when Mellea stops to assist a mysterious young man suddenly her prior hardships seem trivial. His name is Leo. He is a Successor, a child of the Guardians of Selestia. He is royalty. He is handsome. And he wants Mellea completely to himself. Unable to escape the Guardian's laws, Mellea must learn the ways of the royals. She is convinced her life can’t get much worse. But when a timeworn Guardian enemy arises from the shadows, Mellea must make a choice that will change her destiny forever.
4/5
Mellea's life has been anything but normal and full of hardships.
She graduates from high school and while she is working so she can go to college, she gets thrown into the world of the guardians.
I did not like Leo for a good portion of this book. But Thankfully the author makes sure to explain everything and redeem him.
I felt this book hung on the like between a adult/young adult book.
Mellea is put into some tough situations and you feel very sorry for her. You want to be there for her and help her. I loved that. It shows a great author when they can make you feel so much for a character.
Now I did love the story. It moved at a decent pace and you knew what to expect. I can not wait to see whats next.
