Cover Reveal for Talk Derby to Me

Talk Derby to Me
R.H. Tucker
Publication date: August 2020
Genres: Contemporary, Romance, Young Adult

As the editor-in-chief of his high school newspaper, Evan Maldonado is right on track for college next year and pursuing his dream of being a journalist. To put the finishing touch on his college applications, he’s taking an intern position with a well-known newspaper where he’ll receive a letter of recommendation from the editor. There’s just one little problem. The business intern spot he was expecting to get is taken. The only other position they have available is covering the local roller derby league.

Mari Valdez isn’t worried about getting into college. All she’s concerned with is getting through the repulsive world of high school. Sure, she has her best friend, but she still has to put up with teasing because of her multi-colored hair or bruises. The bruises are from roller derby, by the way, the only thing that Mari looks forward to. It’s been her safe haven since her world imploded.

In order to get more information on the derby league, Evan follows Mari to her practices and games. To call their friendship rocky would be an understatement, but the more Evan and Mari are together, the more they seem to connect. When Mari’s personal life boils over, she finds herself confiding in Evan. And just when everything seems to be coming together for the two, a horrible mistake may separate them for good.

Talk Derby to Me is a stand-alone, YA romance novel.

Venom Book Blitz with a giveaway

Harley Wylde
(Dixie Reapers MC #1)
Publication date: February 9th 2018
Genres: Contemporary, New Adult, Romance

I might live in a mansion in South Florida, but my daddy was a biker, and I was definitely Daddy’s girl. When I found out my mom and stepdad had something horrible planned for me, I ran. Straight to the Dixie Reapers, the only place I’d ever thought of as home, but it wasn’t my daddy’s arms I ended up in. Venom is dark and seductive, the type of man who doesn’t take shit from anyone. Despite his hard exterior, being with him makes me feel safe, and his kisses make me ache for so much more. I’ve never been with a man before, but even as inexperienced as I am, I know that being with Venom will ruin me for anyone else, and I don’t care. I want him — all of him — and damn the consequences.

I hadn’t risen to the rank of VP of the Dixie Reapers MC without getting my hands dirty. I’d been deep in blood and dirty money for over twenty years, could have any pussy I wanted whenever I wanted and how the fuck ever I wanted. But when an angel I hadn’t seen in fourteen years came back into my life, all it took was one look in her eyes, and I was a goner. As a kid, Ridley had been this little blonde cherub who lit up the place. Now she’s older, has curves in all the right fucking places, and damn if I don’t want her. The fact she was the nineteen-year-old daughter of a patched member meant I needed to keep my hands to myself, and I might have, if she hadn’t begged me so sweetly. Now she’s mine, and I’ll do anything to keep her safe, even if it means starting a war.

By the time I’d reached the Dixie Reapers compound, I ached from head to toe and felt near to collapsing. I’d been on the road for about ten hours, and the sky was already starting to lighten. My bike came to a stop outside the gates, and a Prospect sauntered forward.

“You lost, sweet thing?” he asked, flashing crooked teeth through the beginnings of a beard.

“Get Bull.”

The man rocked back on his heels. “Bull’s busy.”

“He’s not too busy to see me.”

“Sure.” He chuckled. “The man’s balls deep in pussy, but I’m sure he’ll just run right out here to see you.”

I turned off the engine on the bike, swung my leg over the seat, and stalked forward, poking the asshole in the chest and giving him the fiercest look I could muster. My shoulders were thrown back, and I hoped I looked more intimidating than I was. “Look here, you piece of shit. You get Bull, and you fucking get him now.”

The man grabbed my hand and twisted so that I went down on my knee, my arm behind me at an odd angle.

“I don’t care who the fuck you think you are, bitch. You don’t fucking touch me unless you’re going to wrap your lips around my cock.”

Booted steps drew near. “Is there a problem, Pete?”

“Just some fucking whore who insists on seeing Bull,” the man said, twisting my arm a little more and making me cry out. “Fucking poked my chest and bowed up at me like she’s fucking someone.”

The man in the shadows chuckled. “Is that so?”

The boots came closer, and a dark head of hair appeared. The eyes that fastened on mine nearly took my breath away. I’d recognize those green eyes anywhere.

“Venom,” I said softly.

His gaze narrowed. “Just who the fuck are you, sweetheart? Because I sure as hell don’t remember you.”

“I’m Ridley Johnson,” I said, my voice almost a whisper as dots swam in front of my vision. If the Prospect turned my arm any more, it would break.

Surprise flashed in Venom’s eyes, and he shot up to his full height. The crack of a fist filled the silence, and I was suddenly released. As I tumbled the rest of the way to the ground, strong arms wrapped around me.

“I’ve got you, baby girl,” Venom murmured. “No one’s going to fucking touch you again.”

Author Bio

KD Robichaux wanted to be a romance author since the first time she picked up her mom's Sandra Brown books at the ripe old age of twelve. She went to college to become a writer, but then married her very own alpha and had babies. Putting her dream job on hold to raise her family as a stay at home mom who read entirely too much, she created a blog where she could keep her family and friends up-to-date on all the hottest reads. From there, by word of mouth, her blog took off and she began using her hard-earned degree as a full-time editor. When her kids started school, and with the encouragement from her many author friends, she finally sat down and started working on her first series, The Blogger Diaries, her own real-life romance. She's now published more than fifteen stories in many different genres of romance.

I stop so suddenly that Hailee runs into the back of me and pushes me straight into his chest. I breathe him in before quickly stumbling my drunk ass backward. He smells like he always has— woodsy, spicy, home. I am devastated and elated all at once. Every single ounce of air inside my lungs suddenly evaporates and I’m left breathless, like I’ve seen a ghost. How is he here?

River Jacobs.
My first love.
My first heartbreak. My first everything.
“Ava.” His voice is low and husky—the same as I remember. The way he says my name brings every single emotion I’ve ever felt for him surging back, making me lightheaded. I allow my eyes to pan up to his, a green emerald forest I have no problem getting lost in.

“River.” His name tastes good on my tongue, sweet and sultry. I gulp it down. “How are you here?” I’m not subtle, and I suppose I have the wine and two vodka shots to thank for that. I hope I don’t look as messy on the outside as I feel on the inside.

When he smiles his crooked, perfect smile, I melt into myself. I know that smile so well and God, I’ve missed it. I’ve tried to convince myself I don’t but, the truth is, I’ve never been able to get him out of my head. He’s always been there, far, but his lasting impact remained relentless. “Don’t look so surprised, Ave.” He chuckles. It’s a deep, throaty laugh and I’m reminded of yet another thing I’ve missed infinitely. “I’m back visiting my sister, trying to sort things out. Long story.” He runs his fingers through his hair and sighs.

Hailee sits down at the table with the three men, and I signal to River that we should go outside. It’s loud as hell in this place. I don’t want to have an awkward I haven’t seen you in five years conversation over Bon Jovi’s screeching. So, when he nods, I reach for his hand and lead him out of the bar. The alcohol swimming inside me gives me the confidence to take the lead, even after all this time. I glance back at Hailee, giving her a look so she knows I’ll be close by if she needs me, and she grins back at me.

Once we’re outside, River says, “I’ve missed you, Ava.” The gaze he’s holding and the honesty in his voice, mixes with my buzz, making everything in this moment blur together. I look at him, really look at him, for the first time in over five years. His emerald eyes glisten in the dark as headlights roll over his face, cars whooshing past us. I want to tell him I’ve missed him, but something stops me. My pride? My new jaded self? “I’m so surprised to see you.” I glance away from his face because it’s too perfect, even after all this time, and I’m suddenly shy in his presence. So much has changed. There’s been so much time and distance and hurt packed into these years, but now he’s too close to me and all I can think about is getting my hands on him and letting them speak the words that I can’t right now. “But you did tell me you’d find me again someday,” I say, remembering it as I smile up at him.

“Yeah, and you stopped taking my calls. That hurt.” He looks away from me for a moment and then turns back toward me. “I mean, I understand why. I really do. It was hard, though. I get that it was my choice to leave but that didn’t mean I wanted to lose you. I just—”

“Let me make it up to you tonight,” I interrupt him. With us, it was never just about the sex, but it had been a beautiful bonus. I’d be lying to myself if I said I hadn’t thought about it multiple times over the years. Seeing him now makes me feel like I’m seventeen again, and the rush is more intoxicating than alcohol could ever be.

“Do you want to get out of here?” he asks, as we stand on the sidewalk outside the bar. My eyes widen at his question and he quickly says, “That wasn’t supposed to sound like a lame attempt to take you home with me.” An uncomfortable laugh escapes his lips. I boldly reach out to cup his face in my hands, bringing my mouth to his to allow my actions to do what words can’t, losing myself in the moment as I taste the nostalgia on his lips.

Tonight, I don’t care about consequences.
I don’t think about the mess this might make for us in the morning.
Tonight, I want him in his entirety. “Who says I want you to take me home, River Jacobs?”

When I reach Rion, I lean forward and rest my elbows on the bar. “What can I get for you, stranger? Your usual?”

I've never seen him drink anything other than IPA, though he sometimes varies his brand.

His lips curl slightly. “I've had another shitty day. I can use something stronger tonight. I'll take the Jack Daniels Single Barrel-Barrel Strength.”

“Damn. 130 proof. You’re not playing around tonight.”

He shakes his head and runs one of his big hands back through his already unruly hair. “I told you…shit day.”

I bite my lip. “Well, if the drink doesn't help, I can think of something else that might improve your mood.”

And mine…

That's about as direct as I can possibly be, and his pupils dilate while he holds my gaze. Heat crackles between us, and I fight the urge to look away from the intensity of the connection.

He leans forward across the bar, resting his elbows and mimicking my position. “Are you propositioning me?”

I can't fight the smile that spreads across my face. “Proposition has such a dirty connotation.”

A smirk plays at his mouth. “Only if you make it dirty.”

“I'm just making an observation.”

He shrugs, and his eyes dip to my mouth. “An observation, huh?”

I nod slowly.

“Well,” he leans even closer, “then I'm going to make an observation of my own.”

“Yeah, what's that?”

“You have absolutely beautiful lips. I haven't been able to stop picturing them wrapped around my cock since the first night I met you.”

Sweet mother of God.

Warmth spreads between my legs, and I shift to rub them together against the dull ache forming. “Well, now. Who is propositioning who?”
