Stacy Reid

Lady Willow Arlington, hauntingly lovely, is also blind and known by the ton as the dowry-less daughter. Passion reignites between them, and he makes an enticing offer she cannot resist, drawing them into a dance of lust and love despite the misgivings in his heart.

MIDNIGHT WISH
Lily Maxton

Heiress Jane Cartwright wants a suitor who likes her instead of her dowry. Her parents want a titled son-in-law. When a stranger falls out of a tree and lands at her feet at the Midsummer Ball, she's intrigued with this charmingly awkward, science-minded man. She thinks her deepest wish has been answered when she finds out he's titled. But Jane learns that wishes can be fickle, and her whirlwind romance might just be too good to be true...

ONCE UPON A PROMISE
Nicola Davidson

Long abandoned by her aristocratic soldier husband, Emma Montclair craves a formal separation. To forget the man who pulled her into his glittering, stifling world, introduced
her to sizzling passion, then broke her heart.

Home at last, Major Caleb Montclair offers the wife he never stopped loving a counter-bargain: Grant him the six weeks until Midsummer Night to win her back. But even as old
tenderness rekindles, lost time and shocking secrets threaten their second chance...

AND THEN THE MOON
Ally Broadfield

After unexpectedly inheriting a viscountcy, Duncan Newfield must join society. Her father, Lord Gilmanton, has ordered her to accept a marriage proposal, any marriage proposal, by the end of the season. A bargain is struck and they enter into a fake engagement, but once they realize they might be perfect for one another, unexpected complications arise that may prevent them from having a future together.

Book Description:

When Brother Jim leaves his comfortable life teaching in Catholic high schools and travels to India, he finds himself unprepared for the challenges he faces.

His assigned task is to start his religious order in that country, but as he immerses himself in a land of unfamiliar customs and ancient religious traditions, he soon discovers that his mission has become deeply personal. Brother Jim questions not only all his vows, but his deepest beliefs.
As he travels across India and encounters holy men, thieves, rabid monkeys, and genuinely good-hearted people of all backgrounds, he realizes that the religion of his upbringing is but one of many paths to spirituality, and a sometimes oppressive one at that. On the eve of celebrating twenty-five years as a brother, Jim must decide what he truly holds as important and how he wants to live the rest of his life.

India and Nepal, with all their clamor, fascination, and surprises, come alive on every page in this unusual memoir set in the ‘80s.

Review
4/5
Brother Jim has traveled to India to set up a chapter for his religious order. This book details his life from when he arrived until he left. I loved how reading this story. He does such a good job explaining everything that was going on in his life. Being in that country he discovered more about himself than he expected.
He started questioning his life in the order. He questioned if what he was doing was the right thing for him. Religion is something I think we all question. I loved reading about someone so immersed in religion question things. He was so honest and real in this story that you felt that you could relate. Normally not a fan of religious books, I found myself not able to put this one down.

Excerpt:

Chapter: Monkey Business

Context: Bro Jim has been bitten by a monkey at a train station in South India.

“Your wound has become seriously infected. This is why you have a fever.” The emergency room doctor stood over me and explained the situation bluntly. “I shall admit you immediately and begin a course of antibiotics. We don’t want you to lose your leg.”
Lose my leg? My heart pounded painfully in my chest. Was the infection that bad? Had gangrene set in? I looked at the doctor and lone nurse that attended him. If the infection was serious, shouldn’t there be a whole team of physicians and nurses hovering nearby holding trays of bandages and clamps and antibiotics and narcotics? Where was everybody?
For the next several days I lay restlessly in my bed at St. John’s, a teaching hospital reputed to be the best in town. In the mornings, a doctor led a group of interns on their daily rounds, discussing each patient’s condition. The training was conducted in English, and since most patients didn’t understand that language, doctors and interns felt free to make candid remarks in front of the patient. Each morning I was the nine o’clock lesson.
“I want everybody to touch the red area near Mr. James’s wound,” Dr. Gopal said to his interns. “You see how hard the tissue is? That means that the antibiotics are not working. Perhaps we shall try some other sulfa drug.”
Perhaps? He’s saying it might be a good idea to try something else?
The interns poked, without protective gloves, on the back of my thigh.
“Excuse me,” I said, turning to look directly at Dr. Gopal. “From now on, I want to be informed personally about my progress. And I want to know your plan for treatment of possible rabies. Nobody has mentioned that yet.”
“Rabies?” Dr. Gopal glanced toward me, surprised that a patient should have questions. “I doubt that will be a problem. We are not certain the monkey bit you. The wound may be from his claw.” He turned away. “Now students, continue the rounds on your own and leave your reports in my office. Good day.”
Three interns remained behind and plied me with questions, but not about my well-being.
“Is it true that doctors are the richest people in America?”
“Do you know a hospital that is needing more doctors?”
“I hear that only wealthy people can obtain hospital care in the United States. Is it correct?”
I responded to their questions in short sentences, trying not to tire myself out any more than the fever already had. My leg had begun throbbing again with an added feeling of sharp pain. I was convinced the monkey had left several teeth in my leg. And my anxiety was rising—I could not stop thinking about rabies.
“If you don’t mind,” said a young intern named Sanjay, “I shall return to speak with you this afternoon. We are completely bored because there is hardly anybody in the hospital.” Sanjay explained why. The movie Coma had come to town two weeks earlier, and people were staying out of the hospital for fear that their organs might be stolen.

It’s either the beginning or the end for Sadie James. She came to the small Adirondack town of Andora looking for a fresh start. One that didn’t include the pitying looks of strangers who saw her on the news. Only days into her new life and already she is in trouble. That is, unless the wolf in front of her was salivating at the sight of some other woman in the vast forest around her.

After killing his sister, Tyson searched for oblivion the only way he knew how to. As a wolf he could run from the life he left behind and become the animal he always was. The time between lucidness grows longer each times he surfaces. One day he won’t be able to come back at all. It was the only thing he looked forward to until a lost woman fell at his feet.

Sadie is in danger and she is blind to it. Although, it was never proven, Tyson always believed Jack was behind his sister’s ultimate demise. Now Jack has his sights set on Sadie. Can he fight the pull of the wild or will he let her face the wolves alone?

4/5
Sadie has moved to Adirondack to start over. She can not deal with her past and the pity anymore. Tyson is punishing himself for doing his duty to the pack and killing his sister. Now though he has to protect this girl from getting killed. But he is not sure what to do.
The story was great. I love paranormal romance books. This story is told in 3 parts. First Sadie, then Tyson and then the ending is told by both of them. I liked how tyson talked to his wolf like a brother.
This one has definatly been put on my favorites and I can not wait for more.

excerpt

Stupid, foolish woman. It was the first time in 330 days that Tyson wanted to change to human just so he could yell at this blonde ditz clomping around the forest ruining the peace of the day. If scaring away his venison dinner wasn’t bad enough, she was totally unaware of her surroundings. Not even two minutes ago she almost stepped on a rattle snake in those shiny new boots of hers. This is why he didn’t do the human thing anymore. They were all too loud and blunderous. Wolves on the other hand were graceful, lethal.

Oh for fuck’s sake. That’s poison ivy you idiot.

In all honesty, he could excuse all of that if she wasn’t so damn beautiful that he felt compelled to follow her. It actually pissed him off when he saw her smile with those stormy gray eyes of hers. They were a cool gray that was almost blue, the hues all shades of a hurricane right off the ocean. Her hair was as light as honeysuckle. It was natural too, no chemical smells coming off her at all, and it had shimmers of sun lightened highlights.

Since he was having a momentary mental lapse and was being surprisingly honest, he was actually angry at himself. Self-loathing was all he allowed himself to feel for almost a year. He didn’t deserve attraction. He shouldn’t be feeling interested in the lost woman who, Gaia help him, made him want to be a man again so he could yell at her properly. When you kill your sister, your last living family member, because she was brainwashed into being a traitor, a threat to the pack, and it was your job to remove those threats, you lose your right to feel attraction. And any other of the “good” feelings.

Her small wilting frame called out to all of his instincts, human and wolf. It had been awhile since he followed his human instincts, been awhile since he even felt them. So the careless woman, who spoke to his wolf and human alike, who pissed him off with her golden hair and startling gray eyes, who’s ignorance in the world around her made him growl in frustration, was now under his protection.
